Ideas That Walk" (ITW) is a forward-thinking Social Enterprise that has spent the last seven years harnessing the power of young people to bring about transformative change in  Africa. We believe in the potential of our youth to spearhead initiatives that will propel the continent toward achieving its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our company focuses on development communications, leveraging strategic tools to empower communities, across the continent. Our organisation seeks to influence global conversations and foster change through its dedicated team of professionals. It stands out due to its extensive experience in multimedia journalism, research, and innovative communication strategies.

The company comprises four divisions. A leadership hub, a public relations division, a video and podcast hub and lastly a decor and events management division. 

Our clientele ranges from intergovernmental organisations across the globe including the United Nations programmes and its specialised agencies. Civil Society organisations across the continent, the South African government and its Chapter 9 institutions, the private sector as well as Multimedia Productions aired on DSTV  and the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

 Director 

Ms Zamayirha is the founder and director of Ideas That Walk. She has cultivated a decade-long multimedia journalism and strategic communications career. Passionate about using development communications to influence global dialogues she has contributed to numerous publications such as Huffington Post, City Press, Malawi National Paper, and the Zambia 2021 elections.

Her work has been recognized by institutions like;  Generation G, MenCare, the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa, Sonke Gender Justice, BBC Africa, the United Nations Development Programme, the South African Local Government Association, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung South Africa, the Nelson Mandela Foundation , DG Murray Trust, and the top five leading South African universities, one of which she served as a member of Senate having been the Deputy President of the Wits University Student Representative Council. 

Her broadcasting experience spans contributions on talk radio stations with the South African Broadcasting Channel, including Power FM and SA FM, Newzroom Afrika, and her roles as a producer and on-air personality for television shows and documentaries. 

As a Digital Communications Officer, Zamayirha has worked in six countries, including Angola, Malawi, Botswana, Eswatini , Zambia and South Africa.

As a former deputy president of the Wits SRC and Junior City Council Mayor, Zamayirha is a visionary leader who is legacy-orientated. She believes that a sustainable future is centred around social enterprise and good leadership. She's also a firm believer that if God can expose you to it, he has already equipped you for it. 

Zamayirha's role in ITW is to establish the first layer of impactful leaders. She describes it as a youth-led social enterprise that will provide answers to all sectors of society. 

Managing director 

Michelle Danso dedicates her time towards managing ITW and its quality assurance throughout its divisions. She has an undergrad in Psychology and Sociology from Wits University and a Honours in Industrial Psychology from Unisa. She is a seasoned marketing and events planner and has also participated in beauty with a purpose through pageants where she was crowned with the title of Miss Ghana South Africa in 2016. She is an advocate for representation and is a content creator dedicating her time to empower and affirm young women with dark skin. Michelle is a loving aunt to two queens who, she believes, will change the world. She also believes that you need to become the change you wish to see in the world. 

Administration Director  

Deandre Chen heads up the administration of ITW. She has a BA Law degree at Wits University and is pursuing a masters in at University of Toronto. She is also a natural leader who has led in the Johannesburg City council, public speaking and debating. When not studying Deanndre enjoys traveling the world or cruising in her sports car. Largely introverted, her personality balances well with her interest in adventure. She is passionate about social justice and representation and believes in small acts of kindness.

Projects and Research Administrator 

Dr. Leonard Muhango is a practicing Medical doctor and servant leader. He believes that the problem is never as big as it is made to seem and we are the ones we have been waiting for. Inspired Charlotte Maxeke's quote "This work is not for yourselves - kill that spirit of self, and do not live above your people but live with them. If you can rise, bring someone with you", Muhango is a strong advocate for empowering communities and educating people towards self-reliance and self-sustenance. He is a strategist and joker who keeps the team healthy and wealthy in mind. 

Projects and Research 

Patrick Tumureebire is a Petroleum Engineering Masters graduate and lecturer at Wits Plus (Centre for Part-Time Studies) at Wits University. Patrick believes in thoughtful engagement and purpose-filled work. He believes that building the person you want to be tomorrow starts today. Patrick dedicates his life toward influencing young people toward leading a positive, spirit-filled life. He is also a health enthusiast who spends much time in the gym and eating clean. Patrick also frequents ramps and shoots professionally for ICE Models. He enjoys good food, hanging out with friends and has a millennial baritone voice.
